Lauren Pond is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern under the supervision of Sarah Balint Bravo, M. Ed, LPC-S, RPT-S. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University and her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University. Through her education and experience as a teacher, Lauren has received training in Play Therapy, Parent Counseling, School Counseling, Group Counseling, and Individual Counseling.
Lauren’s work experience for the past eight years includes positions teaching Kindergarten, Third Grade, and interning as a School Counselor at both a private and public school in Dallas. She is well versed in working with children of all ages and their families in a collaborative atmosphere. At SMU’s Center for Child and Family Counseling, Lauren gained experience working with not only children but adolescents, adults, and couples. She is well practiced in working with children who have encountered various emotional and social issues, including but not limited to anxiety and fear, trouble at school, anger, divorce, and death of a loved one. She values the importance of collaboration between parents and their children, and feels that this collaboration is essential for growth and long-term success in therapy.
Lauren works with individuals and groups in a very therapeutic, accepting, and nurturing manner, and strives to instill a sense of hope and belongingness within all her clients. Lauren differentiates therapy based on the client’s individual needs and situation. In a therapeutic relationship, she and the client explore his or her family, social, and environmental factors that may or may not be influencing current issues. She looks forward to meeting her new clients and helping them grow, feel valued and secure, and achieve a sense of purpose.
Lauren resides in Dallas with her husband and their two children.
